SmartDAQ: Custom Sensor Data Acquisition System
Embedded Linux data acquisition system with custom PCB, touch interface, and wireless connectivity for precision low-voltage signal measurement.
The Challenge
A Swiss industrial instruments company (50+ employees) needed a robust hardware platform for low-voltage signal data acquisition. The system required precision measurement, a responsive touch-screen interface, multiple connectivity options, and a compact form factor suitable for field deployment.
Our Approach
We delivered a complete hardware and software solution — from PCB design through embedded Linux application development.
Custom Hardware Design
Using Altium Designer, we created a custom PCB built around the VAR-SOM-AM33 processor. The design features rigid connectors for durability, optimized signal routing for low-noise measurements, and a compact enclosure suitable for industrial environments.
Embedded Software
The application runs on Embedded Linux with a responsive touch-screen interface for real-time data visualization. The software handles multi-channel signal acquisition, data logging, and export — all accessible through an intuitive on-device UI.
Connectivity
Multiple communication interfaces — USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth — provide flexibility for data transfer, remote monitoring, and future mobile app integration.
